4 bodyguards for Ronaldo: The Crazy Requests of World Cup Teams

Very soon 31 international sides are going to travel to Brazil. Obviously, the teams want to feel comfortable at their camps and a few of them have some rather exquisite ideas about what exactly “comfortable” means. The Brazilian sports newspaper “Lance” revealed some of those requests – here they are:

Switzerland

The Swiss “Nati” wants to feel at home at their quarters in Porto Seguro, but their wishes do not sound too fancy. Their main concerns: high-speed internet and Swiss TV channels.

France

The wishes of the French squad are a bit more unusual. They want liquid soap in their rooms, halal food for the Muslim players and – surprise – a videogame room!

Ecuador

In order to be on top of their game, the Ecuadorians requested a bowl of typical Ecuadorian bananas in every room. And they also want a videogame room.

Portugal

The Portuguese officials are very concerned about the safety of their players. That’s why they are bringing six private bodyguards to their headquarters in Campinas. Four of them are exclusively booked for superstar Christiano Ronaldo.

Japan

The Japanese players will be accommodated in Itu. The hotel manager was probably quite surprised when he learned that every single room should have its own whirlpool.

Algeria

The Algerians aren’t very fancy, but they are pious. Their special request: a Quran on every bedside table.

Uruguay

Quiet is what the team from South America needs most. A word and a blow, a giant wall was built all around their compound in Arena do Jacare. Also, the A/Cs are supposed to be extra silent.

Australia

The Australians like their coffee, so they asked for two big coffee machines close to the player’s rooms. And naturally, they also requested the latest Australian newspapers to read at coffee break.

Chile

Apparently, the Chileans weren’t too happy when they had a first look at their hotel.  At least they requested new beds and flat-screen TVs.
