The players of the Black Stars of Ghana are demanding $100,000 as appearance fees for the World Cup according to sources close to the team have confirmed to Allsports.com.gh.
The fee is a 25% raise on the $75,000 paid in 2010 World Cup and was made as part of the team’s petition to its management committee during discussions in Montenegro last week.In 2006 they earned $50,000.
The same petition contained the Stars rejection of payment of wages in the local currency.
There has been a generally unfavorable public response to the recent demand of the team for an increase in winning bonuses as well.
Ghana is drawn in group ‘G’ with Portugal, USA and Germany for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and will play their opening game against USA in Natal on 16th June.
